“All on 4”, “Teeth in a day” or ” Same day teeth” describes a technique in which the dental surgeon places 4 implants and at the same time fixes a temporary bridge on these implants. However the correct terminology in our practice would be “All on 4 or 6”. Our concept follows the “Fast and Fixed” Approach by Bredent(Germany). The upper jaw bone is in general “softer” than the lower jaw bone. Therefore a number of 6 implants in the upper jaw and 4 implants in the lower jaw has been recommended in order to achieve optimal long time results. The idea behind the concept is to use “angled implants” at the distal end in order to avoid anatomical structures like the sinus cavity in the upper jaw and the nerve canal in the lower jaw. These “angled” implants are placed tilted:
A bridge is fitted at the time of the implant insertion. The bridge will be made from plastic and will be replaced after the healing period of approximately 3 months with a permanent bridge. Especially for Denture wearers this is an attractive treatment option because they will get rid of their denture at the time of the implant placement. However it is very important for the Patient to follow a strict “soft food” diet during the healing period in order to avoid overloading of the implants which can lead to the loss of the implants.
